ABOUT THE CONVERGENCE GROUP
Helping Leaders Grow With Clarity, Wisdom, and Purpose
The Convergence Group began in 2009 when Dr. Paul G. Leavenworth set out to help leaders navigate life and leadership with greater focus, resilience, and personal integrity. After decades of mentoring, teaching, and leading in nonprofit and marketplace settings, Paul developed a simple conviction that lasting transformation happens when people feel valued, supported and invited to grow at their own pace.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does compassionate listening fit into leadership?
Compassionate listening is foundational because people rarely grow in environments where they feel unheard or unseen. Paul defines it as caring enough to hear someone’s real story. When leaders listen with compassion, they create space for trust, clarity, and transformation—both in themselves and in the people they influence.
What is discovery learning and why does Paul use it?
Discovery learning is a process where people don’t just receive information—they uncover insight through reflection and experience. Paul uses this approach because people tend to “own” what they personally discover, which leads to deeper transformation, not just short-term inspiration.
What makes discovery learning different from traditional leadership training?
Traditional training tells you what to think. Discovery learning helps you see what is already happenning in your life and leadership. It invites you to slow down, reflect, ask deeper questions, and own the insights you uncover. Leaders often describe it as the moment when “the pieces finally come together.”
What does “finishing well” mean?
Finishing well is about living and leading with intention over a lifetime—not just having strong moments, but cultivating patterns of character, wisdom, and growth that endure. Paul teaches that finishing well becomes possible when we pay attention to how we're formed through life experiences and respond faithfully over time.
What is Leadership Emergence Theory?
Leadership Emergence Theory (LET), based on the work of J. Robert Clinton, describes how leaders develop over a lifetime through stages, processes, and defining experiences. Paul adapts these ideas in accessible language to help leaders understand how both positive and difficult seasons shape character and calling.
What kinds of leaders benefit from The Convergence Group?
The Convergence Group supports leaders and teams from many industries: education, nonprofit, for profit, ministries, and anyone else who wants to grow in character-centered leadership. You don’t need formal training — just a desire to grow, reflect, and serve others well. Everything Paul creates is designed to meet people where they are and help them take their next step.
